The Roaring 20's

Jordan Baker: "Well, I don't care. He gives large parties, and I like large parties - they're so intimate. Small parties, there isn't any privacy"  >> The Great Gatsby <<

Have a listen to a few of my favorite 20's Music as well as Tracks inspired by this great jazz age.

I am really excited about this week. YES, it is DECADE week!!! all week we will be following 3 decades that really made a big splash, through music && of course TRENDS && FASHION.
For today we will be looking at my favorite decade of all, THE ROARING 20's.

Best known as the Jazz Age, the 20's post war era was when things started changing drastically. Women were given the freedom to vote, art thrived as many successful writers, musicians, artists were born out of the 20's & people felt a sense of freedom && liberty.
In cities like New York && Chicago, the 20's roared with Jazz, the morals were looser, the skirts were shorter & the parties were longer.

This decade was one with possibility && thus born the term "The American Dream" as so eloquently portrayed in Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" a story I hold very dear. The reason why I love this decade so much apart from the "JAZZ" of course.

Lets take a step into my time machine && see all the amazing trends that made the 20's so iconic.
These are pictures from my 21st Birthday, themed "The Great Gatsby" . #ENJOY

This era was filled with beads, pearls, feathers, head bands, flowing dresses && the iconic Flapper DRESS....

Classical looks like this was worn by most during the decade, Bow Ties, String of pearls && Headband laced with Feathers && Mesh.

Here is a great example of the iconic flapper dress. A big accessory of this era were Gloves! they were worn in all forms, long, short, satin, lace you name it.

This one is perfect example of a Modern 2014 take on the style of this decade. The most important elements of the 20's, Satin, Sequence & Headband laced with feathers. The essence of the 20's with a hint of modernism.

During this decade women expressed a sense of rebellion most showing this by cutting their hair in short stylish "bob" && wearing pants.
However here is tutorial on how to get the essences of the 20's with long locks

 1. Start by sectioning the hair down the side of the back. One side should be about 2/3rds of the head, and the other should be about 1/3rd of the head.

2. On the heavy side, begin a twist that starts at the temple and wraps around the back of the head.

3. Continue the twist all the way to the end of the section.

4. Wrap the end into a loose bun and pin through the bun with large bobby pins.

5. Reinforce the twist with a couple small bobby pins. Don’t worry about making a really neat bun. It looks better loose.

6. Now make another section that comes down from the top of the head to just in front of the ear.

 7. Twist that section down to the ends of the hair.

8. Now wrap it into a loose bun and pin it into place slightly above the first bun. Take a swig of a PBR and get ready for the next step.
9. Make another section that leaves just a small amount of hair around the face. Twist it back and pin it into a small loose bun. This time use little bobby pins so you can hide them better.

10. Take the last little bit of hair and twist it into a tiny little pin curl.

11. Snuggle it in with the curl before it and try and hide the pin.

12. Now give it a spray of firm hold hair spray if you want. It will help it hold.

Aww, isn't that just beautiful!

Here is an awesome look with short locks! && a beautiful accessory <3

Step 1: Straighten your hair, Nice && Sleek.

Step 2: Sleek the side behind you ear. Apply hair spray for shine & hold.
Complete this look with an awesome head band.... I made this with a piece of gold lace, gold ribbon && white feathers.

&& To finish it all off, a beautiful, simply, elegant make up pictorial

What you will need:

Step 2:  Apply the pale pink shadow to your eye lid.
