Dress Me Up... Makeup Kit!

Friday Friday!!! Happy Friday!... Do I have a treat for you today or what!?!? Today is all about putting together your very own make up kit... && an inside look at my make up kit which I use to put all the tutorials together!... Also I will share with you the essentials to a make up kit as well as the different brushes. So lets get to it!! =)

Have a listen to these awesome tunes by The Icon that is MADONNA!!!

Dress me up
Papa Don't preach
Vogue
Hung up
She's Not Me
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preparing Your Face!

First thing you should have in your make up is Facial Wipes, Aloe Vera Gel && A Good Moisturizer!... Before applying any make up you need to use these 3 items!

Primer, Concealer && Foundation!!!

After you have prepared your face by cleansing & protecting it. Your next MUST!! is to apply PRIMER! this is used so that your makeup lasts throughout the day! You can buy makeup primer or you can make your own. (see 23/05/14's post for "HomeMade Makeup Primer).

Then you need a good concealer to cover up all the scars..etc.
A Matt Concealer is Brilliant!

Foundation! Now you can apply it straight by using a colour closet to your skin tone or you could apply it by contouring & highlighting. (see 23/04/14's post "How to Contour foundation")
If you are using a Matt/Cream Foundation you need not apply Powder, If you are using Liqiud Foundation apply a Mattifying Powder to reduce shine.
Apply foundation with a foundation brush && blend with a sponge.

PS: always use a brush && avoid using your hands on your face as much as possible.

Blushers, Brows,Lashes && Liners!

You can never go wrong with a Rose Blush! its subtle & feminine but if you are a darker skin tone, go to your nearest cosmetics counter && have them match you! I Love a Wide Blush Brush as it contours nicely!

The perfect eye brows! always keep a scissors, tweezers && brow brush in your make you kit! (See 23/04/14, Eye Brow tutorial)
PS: apply aloe Vera gel on your brows after you have done them. Keeps your brow's in place! if you don't use brow gel.

How to apply flash lashes??!! All you need is Tweezers, Lashes&Glue! Its really easy See Here >>

I am nothing without my eye liner! The pencil is good but if you want to try something new try using Gel Liner or Liquid liner. Liquid Pens are great but if you are experienced the Liquid liner is awesome! I always use gel liner to get my winged eye liner. Use an Angel Brush if you are a beginner or Flat liner brush!

Shadow!! Shadow!! Shadow!!!....
There is an endless amount of shadows pallets.... but theses are what you basically need in your make up kit.

Day Time Shadow's
Light Tones, Earth tones, skin tones

Night Time Shadow's
Bold & Bright Colours!

Smokey Eye Shadow's
Day time && Night time!

Mascara && Lips!!!

To Finish off any look these are a MUST!!!

There are 2 Kinds of Mascara's, 1 that provides length (PINK) && 1 that provides Volume (Purple)! if you are lucky you can find this in one product.

If you are not into using false lashes, I recommend you find a mascara that will give you both length && volume.

Lipsticks, like eye shadow come in variety of colours && textures,
I am more a lipstick person rather than using the lip colour pallets. Always have a clear lip gloss! to match which ever colour you are using.

Apply lip liner!!! I find that it helps keep your colour looking perfect longer!
Things you always need to have in your makeup bag!!

Vaseline, for chapped lips or skin etc...
Hair clips
Q-tips, help to clean off any make up mess ups
Water bottle && Foam Sponge , to clean all your brushes!

Here is look at all the make up brushes && what they are used for!!

Hope you have as much fun with your make up as I do!.. Its a great & safe way to express yourself! && its a lot of Fun. People always say that make up is expensive, but trust me, there are brands that aren't && they are really good && last for years! (I Recommend Essence, if you are starting out) && many drug stores have bargain bins && always look out for cosmetic sales.

PS; Always make sure you aren't allergic to anything in make up && also have a professional match you for your foundation, concealer && powders/blushes. ENJOY!!!! =) Beauty is in EXPRESSION!

To put on the path of health here are a few HOME MADE FLU REMEDIES

Peppermint for Headaches and Tummy Trouble

I make myself homemade peppermint tea that soothes and calms headaches and digestive issues – a simple and wonderful way to alleviate some discomfort.
Simple Peppermint Tea
1 palm full organic mint leaves, roughly chopped
hot water
Instructions: to make tea, dice up the leaves and place into a loose tea contraption. Pour in hot water, steep until desired strength, and sweeten with honey and add lemon if desired (see below for these two awesome illness fighting ingredients).

Real Raw Honey

Raw honey is fantastic for colds as it soothes coughs, is an anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal, and helps with digestion.
The Throat Soother
2 tablespoons organic coconut oil (where to buy coconut oil)
2 tablespoons raw honey
1 teaspoon organic ground cinnamon
Instructions: mix with the powerhouse coconut oil (for some great lauric acid), ground cinnamon (to also help sooth the throat), and raw honey together until a paste forms. Eat the goodness throughout the day and soothe the throat!

Epsom Salt Bath to Soak the Sickness Away

Bathes are not only relaxing during illness, but Epsom Salt Bathes can be really beneficial as they detox the body, improves circulation, reduces stress, and also relieve inflammation.
How to take care of dry skin caused by colds & flu!
Apply some oil. Once again, another solution similar to putting on lotion or Vaseline is putting on a dab of oil. Vitamin E oil will provide moisture and help to strengthen and heal your skin, a powerful combination. Place a few drops around your nose, and massage it into the skin. It won’t all be absorbed, and will sit on the surface

To ease your flu! Have a bowl of warm Homemade Veggie Soup!

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 large onion, chopped
  • 2 ribs celery, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 cups mixed chopped vegetables (try cauliflower, zucchini, green beans)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 8 cups water and 3 cubes of vegetable bouillon OR 8 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 14 ounce can tomatoes

Preparation:

Heat oil in a large soup or stock pot. Add onion, carrots and celery. Heat, stirring, for 3-4 minutes, until onions are soft. Add the rest of the vegetables and heat for just another minute or two.
Add salt, thyme and oregano, stirring to coat the vegetables well.
Add bay leaf, water or vegetable broth and bring to a simmer. If using bouillon cubes, add and stir to make sure they dissolve.
Add tomatoes, stir, and allow soup to simmer until all the vegetables are cooked.
Adjust seasonings to taste.
Remove the bay leaf and serve your homemade vegetable soup with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese and some crusty bread or crackers.
How to Make your Own Chunky Infinity Scarf!

Materials:
  •  2 Skeins Chunky Yarn – I used Lion Brand Thick and Quick in Taupe
  • Size 17 Knitting Needles – Or the biggest needles you can find
  • Tapestry Needle
Instructions:
1. Cast on 23 stitches.
2. Seed stitch (k1, p1) until the scarf is 60″ long.
3. Cast off
4. Sew ends together with the tapestry needle.
I kept knitting until I had just enough yarn to sew the scarf together. The final dimensions were 11″ wide by about 60″ long.
Of course you could make the scarf wider or skinnier by casting on more or less stitches, just be sure to keep it an odd number so you can start every row with a knit stitch and not have to worry about what row you’re on.
Here is how to cast on && off when Knitting!
CASTING ON!!!

The best thing to during this winter time is to stay warm! always wash your hands! carry around hand sanitizer or wipes! say clear of coughing && sneezing! drink loads of water && see a doctor for a flu shot!
Hope you all have a safe && warm winter! be mindful of those without shelter! Donate old winter clothes && blankets to you nearest shelter, church or the odd person on the street!

The Job Hunting Games: May the Odds be ever in your favor

Job Hunting can be the most stressful thing we have to deal with. Finding a job, putting together a CV, preparing for interviews etc.
So to make life a little easier I have put together all the essential things you need to know going through the job hunting process, from what to wear, how to find a job, how to prepare for interviews, you name it. Right here in one blog post. So lets get started!!!

Firstly lets look at....

STEPS TO FIND A NEW JOB

1. Find Job Listings. Newspapers, The Internet, University Websites, Company Websites.

2. Focus your job search. Searching for vacancies using key words. For example narrowing it down to your field of study, skills && capabilities.

3. Build your brandCreate profiles on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Visual CV. A strong personal brand that portrays you in a professional light will provide recruiters, employers, and contacts with a strong positive impression of you as a candidate they should be interested in.

6. Create a list of companiesDo you have a list of companies you would like to work for? It's a good idea to research company information and create a list of companies to target in your job search.

7. Target your resume && cover letter. It's important to take the time to write targeted resumes and cover letters that specifically link your qualifications to the hiring criteria for the jobs you are applying for. The hiring manager will be able to see, at a glance, why, and how, you are qualified for the job. You'll have a much better chance of getting an interview than if you send a generic letter and resume

4. Connect with your contacts. Now that you've created profiles on networking sites, use them. Connect with everyone you know, because you never know which contact may be able to help you with your job search or put you in touch with someone who can.

5. Use Job search tools. There are a variety of widgets, gadgets, and tools that will help expedite your job search and manage your career. Use them to organize your job search and save valuable job searching time.

8. The Interview: Research the company before you go for the interview, dress appropriately, practice answering and asking interview questions, and make a concerted effort to impress the interviewer with your skills, experience, confidence, and expertise

Now that we have looked at how to find a Job lets get into THINGS WE SHOULD DO TO PREPARE FOR AN INTERVIEW

We have covered most of the steps in "the finding the job" section. It is vital to know the company you have applied to as well as preparing a targeted cover letter and resume, both of which are important when going into the interview room.

1. Practice Practice Practice. The Interview process can be intense & scare most people, that is why it is good to practice your answers beforehand. Things you need to remember: MAKE EYE CONTACT, GREET with a smile & handshake & answer in full direct sentences.

2. Look Professional. First impressions are everlasting so your attire is a major priority. To help, I have put together a few looks that would be good for an interview.

JOB INTERVIEW LOOK! #Professional #Sensible #Feminine

The Prefect Interview Hair Do....

PS: Wear as little make up as possible!!! as well as jewelry... it can be very distracting

3. Be Early!!! the early bird catches the worm as they say. Make sure you know the time of the interview as well as the venue. Using tools such as Google maps! it will help you manage your time effectively.

4. Get enough sleep! zzzzZZzzzzzz... Make sure that you go to bed early the night before your interview, so that you are rested && wake up refreshed && prepared.

5. Get a good breakfast! since you are well rested, it would be a good idea to get a great start to the day with breakfast! So you are filled with energy && ready!!!

10. Clear Your Schedule
If you know you’re having an interview, try and schedule your activities around it. You never know how long an interview is going to last. It can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour.

I hope this post was helpful && enlightening! Finding a job need not be stressful or daunting. Researching for this post has shown me that there many help centers, job placement agencies that are equipped to help you. Have a look at them! They are a big help.

AKA Bell Bottoms

Heart Chain, Hoops Peace Sign Ring

Platform Sandals

To finish of this Retro look, have a try at this make up tutorial!! If you want to make a bold statement!!

which I definitely recommend!

What you will need:

3 different eye shadows, I chose
Purple
Blue
Yellow
Black eye Shadow
Eye Primer or Concealer or Foundation
Angle Brush
Applicator
Q- Tips
Gel Liner

Step 1: Apply foundation/eye primer/concealer all over && around your eye area.

Step 2: Using your angel brush apply the Blue on the bottom eye lid, just below your lashes. Don't fret if you make a mess you can clean in up later.

Step 3: Take your applicators && apply the yellow shadow to the apple of your eye lid.

Step 3: Apply a bit of black eye shadow to the corner of your eye. This will stop your eye liner from sliding off. It also adds definition to the eye.

Step 4: Taking your angle brush, apply the purple in the crease of your eye. Create a triangle from your crease toward your brow, bringing down to the outside corner of your eye. Much like what we do when we do the winged eye liner.

Step 5: Apply Gel liner to the top && bottom, thinly.

Step 6: Apply Mascara to Finish. You can use a Q-tip to clean off around your eye area.

There you have it !!! A Beautiful 70's inspired look! I love it! #COLORFUL

Have a look at these timeless hairstyles that were REALLY REALLY BIG! #NO_PUN_INTENDED. I think they are just FABULOUS!!!! && #OUT_OF_SIGHT as they said in the 70's

The Legendary AFRO! All Natural

Pinned Up Curls with Scarf

Long Locks with Scarf

Looking at this 70's inspired look, all I can think about is going out && dancing under a disco ball to the grooviest music.

&& I think that's exactly what they did in the 70's

The 70's were the days of pet rocks, mood rings, water beds, crystals, incense, and wild color.
A Decade filled with Fun people enjoying life to the fullest a midst all the terrible things happening around them. Economic Free-fall, Oil Crisis, an end of War yet conflict with in countries.

Does that sound familiar?? Different decade yet we still face the same issues as they did back in the day.

The point I would love to make to you today readers, is never get caught up in all the bad things in our lives. Yes they need our attention, but we also need to step back and enjoy the life we are given to the fullest. I know, I know that was really cliche of me but its a cliche because its true. Its time we filled our lives with peace, comfort, joy && love. Face our issues with those weapons rather than weapons of anger, frustration && violence.

Thank you for taking this #out_of_sight! trip with me. This decade week has been a blast!!! Thank you to those who lived in the 20's, 60's && 70's. Thank you for the great fashion trends, music && most of all the brilliant examples && lessons, that we can still learn from today!..

This weeks BONUS FIND, its brought to you by ME!!! I've used it! && it is really really good!
Home Made Makeup Primer! .... all Natural && very inexpensive! && easy to make.

What you need :
Liquid foundation or concealer
Colorless or white nude butter moisturizer / body /
Transparent gel of aloe Vera (optional)
Toothpicks / brush
container

How to prepare:
Put the required amount of your foundation or concealer in the container. Add equal parts of body butter or a thick moisturizer . The moisturizer acts as an emollient and helps the makeup stick to the skin. When added to your foundation or concealer , it helps prevent wrinkles and dryness. Now mix with a toothpick or the end of your makeup brush to dissolve any lumps . Add more rings if you want better coverage for stains . I think if you can get your hands on an aqueous cream, it would be great . It is a medicated cream very well suited for dry skin and does not leave greasy. You can add a few drops of aloe Vera gel to make this recipe and nourishing skin. Aloe Vera also give a matte finish to the skin. This recipe works just as good as expensive primers available at the makeup counter . Also, keep in the refrigerator to avoid consistency thinning . In addition, it will have a cooling effect on your skin when you apply it.
