Skirtology 101
A line skirt

The A- Line skirt, it sits on the waist, touching your thighs & hips creating the shape of an A.
I love this one!!! it is so so classic & feminine, just showing a bit of leg is all it takes.
Gypsy Skirt
Every girl should own this skirt!
However if you are really slender try a gypsy skirt that sits below you waist, more on your hips. But if you are a bit curvy you should definitely get this one. >>>> The big waist belt will tighten your waist creating the hour glass effect.
Line/ Pencil skirt
Aww there is nothing like a sexy pencil skirt to get you going!! This is one for a more slender body type. However if you have curves you could totally rock this but make sure its has slit at the back & if its a bit looser on your body.
&
On the weekends you could chill in a longer pencil/line skirt, they are adorable and comfortable and they come in a variety of colours.
Mini skirt
Mini Mini Mini!!!! anyone can rock a mini... this is an asset in any girls wardrobe. Great for all body types. If you have curves try & wear one the goes above the waist.
Pleated skirt
This is my personal Fave!!! The pleated skirt. Its great for all body types! Wear it at the waist, it shows off that hour glass figure. If you are slender it gives the illusion that you have a bit of a curve to you.
Its playful, its cheeky && its great anyway you wear it.
Asymmetrical
This has been trending since last year. This asymmetrical look is great for all body types! It shows off some leg.
Its a really playful look.
Gathered skirt
This gathered skirt, a combination of a pleated skirt & the mini skirt. Its only gathered at the waist so it doesn't have as much pleats but still gives off that illusion that a pleated skirt would.
Its a really feminine alternative if you aren't as daring to wear a mini or a pleated skirt.
Make your own skirt... NO SEWING!!!
Supplies:
Fabric of your choice- 6.5 x 4.5
Silk ribbon
Measuring tape.
Measure the area of your waist where you want the skirt to sit.

NB: FOR HIGH WAIST: (Use your measurements, this is just an example)
high-waist so it measured to 24in. add half of that number (12) which makes it 36. this extra room is so the skirt can be bunched, ruffled and slipped on and off easily. now divide your number by 3.14, which for me was roughly 11.5- making this number the diameter of my circle. draw two lines, each 11.5in, crossing directly in the middle to form an x. connect the lines to make a circle and then cut it out.
Take your circle and fold it in half and then in half again so that only 1/4 of the circle is showing.
Take your fabric and fold it in half, then in half again. take the corner which are only folds and place your folded circle in line with the corner and cut along the rounded edge of the circle. This makes the circle for your waist.
Fold down about 1.5 inches on the inside for your waist band and pin in place.

Next cut slits, one at a time, and weave your ribbon in and out of the slits.
Cut about an inch apart for smaller ruffles but you can make the slits farther apart for medium to large ruffles. cut them one at a time as you weave so that you have a straight line across the waist band.
Repeat until you have finished the waist band.
Now you have a chic new no-sew skirt!
Turn a dress into a skirt... I love this! creativity personified!!!
